The company’s services include: Food Procurement, hands on Food Operational consultancy and electronic food system solutions for the hotel sector.
PSL manages a portfolio of 180 food suppliers and is the largest independent food purchaser in the country. PSL, uniquely, aggregative client volumes which helps to generate savings of between 10-15% on food costs. The purchasing side of things is managed by a team of specialist buyers and analysts and a bespoke database which provides market intelligence and trends and automatically benchmarks and challenges all supplier’s pricing against the market. They are supported by PSL’s operations team who monitor supplier performance on clients’ back doors ensuring that the pricing benefits are delivered and food quality is maintained.
Operational Support & Purchasing Savings
[edit]Over the 23 years PSL’s operational team has developed a food operational support function to complement the purchasing services and this is what makes the company unique. The operational savings identified and delivered being as add-on to the purchasing savings. The operations team are 30 strong and are all highly experienced and from a variety of background in catering and hospitality. This service is tailored to individual client’s requirements and can range from supporting the implementation of the purchasing savings to working with clients on all aspects of the food operation including kitchen management, menu engineering, theoretical food costs and food revenue generation and capture.

How PSL operate
[edit]PSL offers a free evaluation of current purchasing to all potential clients and sets out the savings achievable prior to seeking commitment. Savings vary between 10-15%.
PSL generates its income by sharing in the savings identified and has flexible fee models which are dependent on the services and level of service required.
