Football Player and Football Coach

Jamie Hardwick (born 23 October 1972) was an English footballer who later became an academy football coach. He has played much of his career in a right midfield role, but he has also been used as a second striker, centre midfielder, right wing back and right winger.

Hardwick started his football career at Mansfield Centre of Excellent at age 10 and played in grassroots football with Clipstone Colts from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and East Midlands United from Worksop, Nottinghamshire. At the age of 14 he signed schoolboys forms on a 4 year contract for Sheffield Utd. He also played for his county schools team and Mansfield district team going on to represent Midlands in the England cup and getting to the last 32 in the FA Lilleshall boys but then going onto his football scholarship with Sheffield Utd transferring to Lincoln City in 1989 where he made his debut in the same year and scoring a hatrick in 1990 against Hartlepool under Colin Murphy and John Pickering. Under Alan Clarke still only in his 2nd year scholarship he continued to be part of the 1st team squad making 10 appearances until the sacking of Clarke when Steve Thompson was appointed manager in 1991. Hardwick played a lot of reserve team football but earned a professional contract for 6 months. A scarcity of selections for Lincoln City 1st team lead to Hardwick leaving the club.

At the age of 20 Hardwick played for his local team Clipstone Welfare FC, who won the double and got to the last 16 of the FA Vase. He was then spotted by Vauxhall Conference side Boston United to whom he transferred in 1993 signing a 2 year contract having some success under Peter Morris. He then went on to sign for Grantham Town with Mark Wallington on a 1 year contract and transferred for a fee to Gainsborough Trinity with Ernie Moss being rated by non league 442 as the most up-and-coming young player. This was his opportunity to sign professional forms again for Northampton Town with Peter Morris, but with a nasty injury to his knee in pre-season this finished his career. He went on to play for local teams Eastwood Town, Heanor Town, Glapwell FC, Rainworth FC and then returned to his first non-league team Clipstone Welfare.
