Texas Health and Safety Code

[edit]

The Texas Health and Safety Code is the statutory law enacted by the Texas state legislature to establish the Department of State Health Services, regulate healthcare facilities and providers, food and drugs, promote environmental public health, and codify programs to promote the wellbeing of mentally disabled and mentally ill Texans. It also has provisions for common public safety hazards and emergency services.[1] The code was enacted in 1989 and 1991 by Texas HB 2136, 71st R.S. and TexasHB 902, 72nd R.S., respectively, as part of the ongoing revision process begun in 1963.[2]
