About
[edit]This page assists, in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), in the development of a mechanism to enable Wikipedia articles to signal the invasive nature of a species according to the IUCN's Environmental Impact Classification for Alien Taxa (EICAT). This would be in addition to the existing signalling of Conservation status and would build on its implementation via the MediaWiki template {{Speciesbox}}.
All text materials in this space are licensed under CC BY 4.0, and the EICAT images under CC0.
To do
[edit]- build EICAT-aware version of {{Speciesbox}} instead of the current prototype implementation via Special:ExpandTemplates

- draft Environmental Impact Classification for Alien Taxa as a complement to Conservation status
- draft {{Environmental Impact Classification for Alien Taxa}} as a complement to {{Conservation status}}

- add image to Acacia sclerosperma
- review corresponding entries in Wikidata
- consider proposing a property for EICAT status
- see also Global Invasive Species Database ID (P5626)
