This is an essay. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not an encyclopedia article, nor is it one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, as it has not been thoroughly vetted by the community. Some essays represent widespread norms; others only represent minority viewpoints. |
This page in a nutshell: Undue prejudice to RedWarn is unproductive. Talk about it and maybe you'll actually get something useful done. |
If you have concerns about RedWarn, then don't whine about it in IRC, Discord, or other off-wiki channels, and instead bring them to the actual page where you'll get a response: Wikipedia talk:RedWarn.
Deterring people from using RedWarn, with no other reason than "don't" is unproductive, if not outright prejudice. Likewise, deterring people from using RedWarn because "Twinkle is better" uses an unfair comparison, as RedWarn is specifically oriented towards counter-vandalism patrol, and is not a general-use tool.
Complaining relentlessly about what you think is bad about the tool or about certain aspects of it that concern you in places where you're expecting an echo chamber, especially if you haven't even tried the tool yet and just feed off the drama, is not going to make the tool go away, nor will it make the tool improve. You're supposed to state your concerns on the talk page so that we can have an actual discussion going.
