Azar Habib (28 November 1945 – 14 November 2007) (Arabic : عازار حبيب) was a Lebanese singer and composer, born in the town Rashaya,Lebanon. He started his career as a member of a Western band after which he turned to singing in Arabic and became famous throughout the Levant region for his music.
He is famous for his usage of the Buzuq and for mixing traditional Arabic music with modern western pop.[1]
He died from a heart attack on 14 November 2007[2]

[edit]Azar Habib composed various songs for other singers during his career including Sabah and Hadi Hazim
His first album was "Nana" (1979)[3]

[edit]In 2000, His song "Miin Ma Kenti" became a popular Internet meme spread by Swedish people on the internet in which the song's lyrics were misunderstood and mistranslated Swedish text was accompanied with bizarre imagery. The meme is regarded as one of the earliest memes to go viral.[4]
