Template talk:Modern Asian literature
This template is problematic since it takes a very distinct and narrow Western perspective on Asia and and Asian literature as some sort of natural divider. I am skeptical to its use since it smacks of orientalism.

I am equally skeptical of the fact that two-thirds of the links point to Indian literature. I am going to collapse the subsections in order to maintain balance. Set up in this way, its use in Japanese literature seems quite strange. Dekimasu 07:09, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
The opening paragraph, besides being incomprehensible from a grammatical standpoint, also creates a very awkward opening paragraph in every article that uses the template. Someone at Japanese literature complained about it, and I see why. I'm removing the paragraph; templates should be boxes, not a hybrid form of box + discussion.
