- Hi, why is no one interested in viewing this DYK for a long time? Please let me know how many days the review process usually takes. Hteiktinhein (talk) 18:19, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Hteiktinhein! DYK is user driven, with various incentives to review hooks such as to complete their QPQ, interest, or simply goodwill. Predominantly foreign-language sourced articles or longer articles tend to take time to review due to the necessity to verify the various points. It is important to understand that, because sometimes it can take hours or even months, with no guarantee on the article being reviewed as soon as you want it to. Patience is important, and it is important to keep in mind there is no inherent rush for the nomination to move forward once it has been put out there. Ornithoptera (talk) 03:03, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Hteiktinhein: I'm sorry you've had such a long wait to get this article reviewed. I have some problems about this article. In the lead paragraph, you say that "Local media have referred to him as a "Buddhist terrorist"", but (unless I've missed it) neither this Myanmar Now article, this RFA article, nor this Frontier Myanmar article use the phrase. Also, as a person unfamiliar with Burmese politics, this article confuses me. Some of these sources seem laudatory of U Wasawa (for example this National Post blog), but they are being treated as reliable sources for an article which is largely critical of him. Can we explain why some sources are for him and some are against? And how the various groups in this article are related? Why the YMBA support him and what the title "Mingala Dhamma Jotikadhaja" means? As this article is, I don't think it can go forward. Best, Tenpop421 (talk) 15:31, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- I will reply soon as I on vacation. Pls wait a little longer. Hteiktinhein (talk) 11:36, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Hteiktinhein: The nomination will time out in two days, so this can't wait much longer, even if you're on vacation. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:11, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- I removed disputed sentene and so tell me if you have another question? Hteiktinhein (talk) 10:30, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Hteiktinhein: I'm afraid my issues with sourcing and readability are still there. Given this article is probably going to time out now, it's probably best to reapply to DYK. Best, Tenpop421 (talk) 16:10, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

- @Tenpop421: and @Narutolovehinata5:, Firstly, I waited over a month to have my article reviewed. I was shocked that the review process began during a time when I lost internet access after returning to my country, where the military has banned all languages of Wikipedia. Editing with a VPN to bypass the firewall blocking Wikipedia is considered a crime and can lead to arrest. When I regained internet access, I found some editors had issued warnings that the nomination would be closed, saying they couldn’t wait any longer. This isn’t fair. However, I’m here now to answer all of your questions.
Let’s begin: You asked why some sources praise U Wasawa (for example, the National Post blog). Yes, the National Post newspaper is a pro-military media outlet that supports the military wing. Its chief editor, Naungdawlay, who authored the article, is one of the few journalists with access to attend official military government press conferences. Other media, like Myanmar Now or Mizzima, are pro-democracy outlets that operate outside the country. The article mentioned above covers the health condition of the monk’s mother and provides some background on the monk's family, so it is reliable for basic personal facts.
The Wikipedia article should maintain a neutral point of view without bias. I included both positive and negative aspects of his life. Your other question was about the title "Mingala Dhamma Jotikadhaja." "Mingala Dhamma Jotikadhaja" is a Pali title, and its meaning is recognizable to Pali scholars. This type of Pali title is used formally in Buddhist countries like Thailand and Myanmar for monks, kings, and queens as regnal titles. Hteiktinhein (talk) 05:04, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- According to my research, the Pali title မင်္ဂလဓမ္မဇောတိကဓဇ (Mingala Dhamma Jotikadhaja) can be translated as “Bearer of the Auspicious Light of the Dhamma.”
- မင်္ဂလ (Mingala): "Auspicious" or "Blessed." This term often signifies good fortune, merit, or auspiciousness.
- ဓမ္မ (Dhamma): Refers to the teachings of the Buddha, commonly known as "Dharma" in Sanskrit. It represents the path of righteousness, truth, and the Buddha’s teachings.
- ဇောတိက (Jotika): This comes from "Joti," which means "light" or "radiance." It implies illumination or enlightenment.
- ဓဇ (Dhaja): Meaning "flag" or "banner," often used symbolically to represent "bearer" or "champion."
In Buddhist countries, this type of title is typically awarded as an honorific to monks or respected figures, signifying their role in spreading the Buddha's teachings and being a source of moral and spiritual guidance. Hteiktinhein (talk) 05:08, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Tenpop421: and @Narutolovehinata5:, I have addressed all the questions, so please review this as soon as possible. I am available 24/7 to answer any further questions. This article has already undergone extensive review by other editors, and if anyone intentionally delays further review, I cannot tolerate it and will report it to the appropriate forum. Delays in the review process are not my responsibility. Hteiktinhein (talk) 18:13, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Hteiktinhein: I'll remind you that Wikipedia is volunteer run. I and Narutolovehinata5 have other responsibilities to attend to. I apologise for the wait you've had, and the difficulty you've had editing Wikipedia in your country, but review was not intentionally delayed. DYK has a backlog and these things happen. Aside from removing the "Buddhist terrorist" quote, you haven't altered the article in response to my questions. If this Wikipedia page is intended to include "both positive and negative aspects of his life", it does not succeed; it mentions nothing positive, and creates a thoroughly negative impression of U Wasawa, as does this hook. This Wikipedia page must be accessible to people who are not Pali scholars nor familiar with the intricacies of Burmese politics. Best, Tenpop421 (talk) 20:41, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- really? What are you talking about ? I already answered your question above? How much do you need? Hteiktinhein (talk) 06:58, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Hteiktinhein: Sorry if this wasn't clear, my questions were problems with the article. Could you edit it to reflect what you've told me here? Best, Tenpop421 (talk) 14:14, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
