Merge
[edit]Should this page and the Murano glass page be merged? Pnkrockr 19:23, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
As the content on both pages is nearly identical, I thinking merging them makes sense. Sun da sheng 06:10, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Something about the Vetro Artistico® Murano mark: only a (small) part of the Murano's glassmakers/companies are memeber of the Consortium and uses the trademark. More: expecially the more "artistic" glassmakers (Salvadore, Tagliapietra, Zilio, Fuin, just to have few names) and some of the most famous brands (as Venini) aren't part of the Consortium. With only some companies and with the main part of the high-end glass producers out the consortium, the Vetro Artistico® Murano mark represents only its own members, not the Murano art. The art of venetian glassmaking is of every skilled venetian glassmakers who works with passions, with or without pseudo-official marks. Marco 78.12.139.67 22:01, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
They should not necessarily be merged, as they are not necessarily interchangeable.
Murano glass- is made on the island of Murano.
Venetian glass- companies who makes Venetian Glass can be in Murano, but more often in the city or suburbs of Venice. In the past 20 years, there are companies who make glass in the outskirts that use the term Venetian glass, typically mass produced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.27.237.161 (talk) 19:46, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
reference to Paul & Co as oldest company in Murano was deleted, as it is not correct. Barovier and Toso is the oldest, by at least 6 centuries. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.27.237.161 (talk) 20:21, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Though this topic seems to have run out of steam several years ago, I would urge the merging of Venetian glass and Murano glass. Though there are some nitpicking distinctions that could be made, the content of the two pages is extremely similar (and, in fact, the Venetian page discusses Murano glass in a couple of places). In the process of merging, much of the content that covers glassblowing techniques (particularly caneworking, murrine, and millefiori) glassblowing tools, and glassblowing terms could be removed with wikilinks to appropriate pages. None of these subjects is unique to Venetian/Murano glass; the Italian terms have been adopted worldwide. Punty Jon (talk) 17:11, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
Proposing merger with Murano glass
[edit]Dear Colleagues. A merge proposal has been opened at Talk:Murano glass. Thank you for your valued input. Regards, Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 20:48, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
After years of debate, Murano glass was merged into this page on December 14, 2018. Most of the content is from Murano glass. TwoScars (talk) 22:15, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

Is it necessary to include citations in the section titled "Chandeliers?" Particularly where the article discusses biographical information about him and his life. If unnecessary, feel free to disregard.
