Ullyul County → Unnyul County – By Texts on Wikisource:
North Korean sound values ㄹ change into ㄴ as 선렬→선녈 (Sonnyol), 선률→선뉼 (Sonnyul) in the case of assimilation of adjacent consonants. So the pronunciation of 은률 must change into 은뉼, and be Romanized as Unnyul. Sawol (talk) 02:49, 12 January 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. Bradv 17:03, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- Question are we consistently using KCNA spelling for N. Korea place names now? In ictu oculi (talk) 10:49, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
- User:2Q moved this page a year ago. The reason for the move was given as changing spelling to reflect Northern dialect. Please prove this statement. If no actions are taken, this page will be undone. Sawol (talk) 08:10, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
- Not having seen the 조선말 규범집, I've been doing romanisations consistently based on North–South differences in the Korean language and McCune–Reischauer, and on observations of spellings in articles on KCNA and Naenara... but I didn't look up every instance of -ㄴ + ㄹ-, so the majority end up as per the first part of article 22 of s:ko:조선말 규범집 (2010)/문화어발음법#제8장 닮기현상이 일어날 때의 발음, i.e. 제22항. But given the official rules I agree my move should be undone. I'd further suggest an English translation of the rules should be prepared to ensure consistency in North Korea-specific transcriptions. 2Q (talk) 16:54, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for your explanation. s:ko:조선말 규범집 (2010)/문화어발음법#제2장 첫 소리 자음의 발음: 제5항 한자말에서 《렬, 률》은 편의상 모음뒤에서는 [열]과 [율]로, 《ㄹ》을 제외한 자음뒤에서는 [녈], [뉼]로 발음한다. Article 5: vowel+ryŏl and ryul→yŏl and yul, consonant (except ㄹ)+ryŏl and ryul→nyŏl and nyul with Hancha. But Article 22 explains about ㄴ+ㄹ of ro 로, rae 래, ri 리. This page is 은률 ŭn+ryul. In case of ㄴ+ㄹ of rul 률 栗, we should follow Article 5. Sawol (talk) 02:12, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
- I would also ask that Ullyul Line then also be moved, to Unnyul Line.2Q (talk) 16:20, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
