[edit]The comment about the possible abuse of the dna database is legitimate and should be given serious consideration.
- Hi, thanks for coming by and contibuting. You are, of course, right that there are legitimate privacy concerns about the database. You appear to be new to wikipedia so a few tips:
- Articles need to have a balanced point of view and also be factual. I'm afraid that you slipped up a little on both - remember that there are lots of people who can edit these pages, and so while it is rare for everyone to agree on an article exactly, basic issues like this will not be allowed to stand. (Your assertion that taking DNA samples after the recent changes to arrests was the end of policing by consent is a little biased... you either write a full balanced section, or nothing at all.) Have a look at the Help pages, especially Neutral Point of View. There are protocols for formatting entries, so that everything has the same look, a good starter can be found here.
- Don't be afraid to add stuff, as others will help you out, but try to keep to the guidleines if you can. Sapient 12:01, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and can you leave comments on my talk page rather than the User page, as that's the accepted procedure. Thanks! Sapient 12:03, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
"some have argued"
[edit]Good article. Is this weasel words? Is there anyone we can ascribe the view to? AndrewRT 12:48, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
Broken Link
[edit]The Link: "Williams et al. 2004" in the References section is broken. I've commented it out but i think it would be good if somone might reinsert it as working link. Taking DNA
[edit]Does anyone know how the police take the DNA? What happens if the arrested person refuses to cooperate? Marktunstill (talk) 00:09, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
I believe it's a swab from the inside of the mouth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.236.130.123 (talk) 09:49, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
DNA can be taken from, yes a swab from the mouth, but also from skin, blood, hair, anything that carries the DNA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.237.88.14 (talk) 23:11, 21 March 2011 (UTC)
