Lakenheath

[edit]

Every day, on Flightradar24, we can see at least three Top Aces aircraft flying from RAF Lakenheath and doing what I imagine are training sorties over the southern North Sea and the Dutch coast. Today there's two Alphas and one A4, at least. They do not seem to interact with the RAF Eurofighter and USAF F15E or F16 flights we see (although I appreciate that, particularly over the sea, those aircraft may be able to operate transponders off). So it doesn't seem they're operating as adversaries for them, but presumably as training aircraft. Do we know for whom? Training RCAF pilots in England seems like a bit of an unnecessary complication. I've seen suggestions that they could train Ukrainian pilots (presumably in preparation for conversion to F16) but I've seen no reliable confirmations that they actually are. Or do they simply have an outsourced training contract with the RAF? -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 13:42, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
