Wikipedia requirements

[edit]

It still needs to meet Wikipedia's requirements of notability and verifiability....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons

As it stands this, and most of the other articles added during the edit-o-thon, are little more than spam/junk articles and are likely to be deleted as such.

A sweeping statement. Perhaps, you should help improve them or suggest they be incubated, rather than all the time you've spent pointing out errors. And there are alternatives to deletion by the way. Its not a binary world. - X201 (talk) 10:08, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your concernes as it is obvious that some of these editors were not supervised by experienced wikipedians as was dong in Cardiff. However, at the moment, you are going way over the top in your crusade to get them removed.Deb (talk) 09:37, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed move

[edit]

I suggest revising and renaming this article to be about the image of Ieshia Evans rather than the person herself. This suggestion was also raised by others at the recent deletion discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ieshia Evans. According to Wikipedia:Notability (people), if there is only enough information for an article about someone in the context of a single event, then "the article should be titled specifically about that event".

Most of the significant coverage in reliable sources treats the photo and/or the event as the subject – for example in The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Atlantic, CBS, Reuters, and Le Figaro – whereas coverage about the person is less in-depth. Even appearing in the BBC's 100 Women mainly supports notability for this one event.

The photo itself doesn't appear to be titled. Maybe Photograph of Ieshia Evans would be an appropriate page title. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 19:01, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've just made the move. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 04:01, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The photo was entered into competition under the title Taking A Stand In Baton Rouge, I'm suggesting a move to that and let the redirects take care of everything else. - X201 (talk) 09:03, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Sangdeboeuf: Thank you for coming up with a solution and improving the article. This photo is indeed iconic and it would be a shame for it not to be included in Wikipedia. --MopTop (talk) 17:06, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pepsi commercial

[edit]

Shouldnt the Live for Now (Pepsi) ad be mentioned here as well? The ad already links to this article. jonas (talk) 15:37, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
