Conversion to Sikhism?

[edit]

None of the biographies of Swami Rama Tirtha mention conversion to Sikhism. I'll remove this section unless there are multiple and extremely good Reliable Sources (WP:RS) to support such a claim, since several Reliable Sources and all of his biographies make no mention of it! "Exceptional claims require exceptional sources". Puran Singh's biography makes no mention of conversion! Note that Swami Rama Tirtha was something of a universalist. If he did write those books, it was not as a convert, but likely as a lover of the truth in all religions. priyanath talk 03:19, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the odd claim of conversion. It seems that there must be some confusion with the similarly named Swami Rama, who wrote Sri Guru Granth Sahib,[1] which is one of the titles that was being mistakenly attributed to Swami Rama Tirtha in the removed section. Also note that the most relevant biography of Swami Rama Tirtha was written by Puran Singh, a famous Sikh, and it makes no mention of even a passing interest in the Sikh religion by Swami Rama Tirtha. Finally, the online Sikh Encyclopedia has an article about Swami Rama Tirtha that makes no mention of conversion or interest in becoming a Sikh, though it does say "He held all religions in equal respect and showed special appreciation of SIKHISM, Islam and Christianity."[2] priyanath talk 00:02, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: not moved. There is no consensus for moving, also wrt WP:NCIN, independent sources should be used to establish common use. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 19:34, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In keeping with other articles on Hindu sannyasins. I would have moved it myself, but the page already exists as a redirect. --Devadaru (talk) 13:29, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think Ram Tirath was a good person. He was an educated person and also preached his speaches in USA in 1900. I aslo have an option to build a memory tomb at his birth place.I have visited his birth place and his old house in village Muraliwala Gujranwala (Pakistan). This is not fair to ignore his services for education in this area.
