Personal life

[edit]

"Esther was conceived using an embryo she had frozen" The embryo was already conceived when it was frozen - or, she had an egg frozen, which was then "conceived" more recently. It should be clarified which.

Birth year

[edit]

I reckon she was born in 1966, not 1967. Would anyone care to research further ?

These sites say she was born in 1966: [1][2][3][4][5][6]
These sites say she was born in 1967: [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]
Frankly, I don't know who to believe. Deco 00:18, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not the best source but her birth date was listed as 1966 during her debut in 1992 and again with her second album in 1994. (I'm old enough to remember her debut! ;-) ) I've only started seeing 1967 within the past few years. I'd bet money the actual year is 1966. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.96.22.118 (talk) 05:25, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is 2015 and she admits she is 50. [15]. So, probably 1965. Definitely not 1967. --MarsRover (talk) 19:07, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Doing the math, it would be 1964. If she's 50 now and her birthday is November 1, she'll ture 51. Thus, 2015 - 51 = 1964. :P — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.185.215.187 (talk) 03:43, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Where did November 1 come from? - SummerPhD (talk) 05:36, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Wikipedia for one. A quick Google search has multiples sources of November 1. Ive never seen another birth day for her. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.185.215.187 (talk) 04:53, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
We're trying to find a reliable source for November 1. Wikipedia is, of course, not a reliable source for anything. We also can't really say that you searched for it, found multiple sources and have never seen another date. What we need is a published source (not a Wiki, not a fan site, not one of those "Born on this day..." lists) that says what her birth date is. Common sources for such things are the artist's official site, well-established newspapers and magazines, etc. Until someone finds one, we're stuck with what we have. - SummerPhD (talk) 13:22, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Better?

"On Nov. 1 Hawkins celebrated her 40th birthday."

I assume IMDB or iTunes links are out?

There we go, November 1, 1964. I knew I was right. LOL — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.185.215.187 (talk) 00:26, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gay?

[edit]

I heard a while back that she was a lezbo. Anyone know?

Definitely bisexual. There are many sources to confirm this, not least of all the documentary The Cream Will Rise. Also, if you believe her lyrics to be autobiographical, a great example is "Your Tongue Like the Sun in My Mouth",[16] detailing sexual encounters with a man and a woman. Dcoetzee 06:53, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
She gave an interview years ago that she considered herself an "omnisexual". She was definitely involved with Gigi Gaston (the director of Cream Will Rise). She also stated in an interview that she had a live-in relationship with a much older black male drummer in NYC as a teenager (14, if I remember correctly.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.30.163.16 (talk) 16:45, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In other words, she was being sexually abused. 209.6.200.92 (talk) 12:13, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you an adult unironically saying "lezbo"? 209.6.200.92 (talk) 12:12, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Album to be released

[edit]

Reporting an error: the current link for "The Crossing" goes to another album by that name. There doesn't appear to be a page for the new Sophie B. Hawkins album of that name, so I'm not sure what to do in the way of fixing it. A. J. Luxton (talk) 04:58, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed the link to The Crossing (Sophie B. Hawkins album) where the article should eventually be. Once that article is released, we'll need to either add a hatnote to The Crossing; rename that article to The Crossing (Big Country album) and hatnote the Hawkins album page; or rename the Big Country album page and create a disamb page. - SummerPhD (talk) 05:08, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bisexual claim

[edit]

I have removed the bisexual claim. The source cited (archived here) does not have Hawkins calling herself bisexual. Rather, the review refers to "another bisexual talent: Janis Joplin." This was placed against having her deny being a lesbian. (The article for that claim doesn't have a link. I'll see what I can find...) - SummerPhD (talk) 04:25, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sophie B. Hawkins discography

[edit]

Support split - Discography section takes up almost one third of the page and should be split to a new article entitled Sophie B. Hawkins discography. --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:42, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
