Jaganath Ratha-Yatra

[edit]

I removed the following today because it seemed to be describing something different to the Jaganath Ratha-Yatra (originating in Puri) being detailed in the article:

Major Rath Yatra festivals of Radha Rani are organized anually in India and abroad by the Hindu Spiritual leader Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj. The largest in the west is the Radha Rani Rath Yatra festival at Barsana Dham in America. The largest in India is the Rath Yatra of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj himself, which happens anually near the holy city of Kunda. [1]

Although called a 'Ratha Yatra', it does not appear to be the same festival as that including Jaganatha, Balarama and Subhadra. Also it contains a number of potentially point of view statements regarding the size of festivals rather than being written in an encyclopedic tone. This article's current name is "Ratha-Yatra". I propose a rename to "Rathyatra" because that is the most commonly used English-language term for describing this event. One bit of supporting evidence for this is search for Google hits for each term. There are about 100,000 for Ratha-Yatra and about 1,100,000 for Rathyatra. Any objections to the move? Blue Rasberry (talk) 17:34, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's not about google search, it's about the real and original name which is "Ratha Jatra", a google search doesn't define the real name and titles must not be given in the way Google search give the result.--SubhaUtter2me! 14:58, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I support to Psubhasis and completely disagree with Bluerasberry. If you want to change then change it to the original name "Ratha Jatra" as pronounced by the people of Odisha. Name can't be changed from language to language. Thats why the new name should not be decided based on Google search or English language. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.247.247.226 (talk) 07:04, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bias

[edit]

This article is heavily biased in favor of ISKCON and the Bengali Krishna movement. No mention is made of the Ahmedabad Rath Yatra which is over 130 years old. This article needs to be modified heavily. Otherwise, I suggest deletion and a new start. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.91.228.47 (talk) 21:30, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Combining the Rath Yatra pages

[edit]

Hello, through my research I came across three different pages: Rath Yatra, Ratha Yatra (Puri), and Ratha Yatra (Ahemdabad). Is there any particular reason as to why these pages have to be separated? It looks very confusing. Please do give your insight if you think these pages should be combined under one page or not. Chilicave (talk) 03:17, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I agree regarding the confusion. Already there is some description of Ratha Yatra (Puri) in Ratha Yatra, and much of the other material is shared, such as the lead images. However, there appear to be a number of related festivals, and it would be inappropriate to try and cram them all into one article. I suspect what is needed is better organisation of the articles.
