In the Etymology section there is a claim that the word comes from 'perspiration', which is meant to refer to the condensation on the outside of a cold glass. I find this quite unlikely, and the two sources cited aren't great - one cannot be verified online, and the other is hardly authoritative. If it said that perspiration refers to the condensation of the distillate coming out of a still, that to me would seem more credible, but even then I'd like to see a WP:RELIABLE citation. Raki thats the right name because was under Ottoman Empire but the Turks are Muslim can claim them made 😜😜 the best Raki you can find in Albania a then Greece so Raki originated between Albos and Greeks in Albania can even remember how old raki is 82.42.114.182 (talk) 08:19, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Rakı(Turkish) or Rakia(Slavic) is a family of distilled drinks. It includes votka-like spirits as well. Not all variants are anise flavored more like fruit spirits or liqeurs (vodka-like). Rakı akı is the anise flavored type. So the appropriate title should be "Turkish Rakı"
Also other types of rakı did not mentioned such as Boğma Rakı of Hatay province. Boğma is made of figs instead of grapes and anise flavored. It was also produced by TEKEL.
I recommend merging Rakia and Rakı articles.
Also yeni rakı images should be replaced with whitened rakı image. Just search "Turkish Raki" and see yourself what represents raki.
No company should be mentioned here because it is a traditional drink. (Can we refer any wine, spirit or liqueur family to single brand or company?) This tradition still goes on in Turkey and Balkans, people prefer home made Rakı to serially produced Rakı. 178.243.35.171 (talk) 18:29, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
