Slightly Confusing Names

[edit]

I note that several different spellings are used for the 'Old Fort', as the article calls it - Purana Quila, Purana Qila, Purana Killa, and Purana Qi'lah. Would it not be more expedient to use one spelling, seeing as all these are pronounced the same anyway?

I can also see that a picture of the Sher Mandal is labeled as a tomb. Piouspiast 07:26, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unverifiable

[edit]

What's this concept about a "Hindu Hero" king? It has no links to anywhere. Nowhere in history have we read about Hemu being a Hindu hero! He was a warrior & a king. That's it! What is this right-wing attempt to corrupt information on Wikipedia. I request all references to Hemu as a Hindu hero or as re-establishing a Hindu Kingdom be deleted from this section. No one refers to Chandragupta Maurya as a re-establisher from Greek to ancient Indian religion. No one refers to Ashoka as a Buddhist establishment. Please stop Hindutva in it's tracks now before they corrupt Wiki & history all over!!! Aman Zaidi (talk) 12:41, 16 April 2008 (UTC) Aman Zaidi[reply]

Editing that part to make it neutral. For discussions on Hemu, please see Talk: Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya

"Indraprastha"

[edit]

There seems to have been an attempt to insert historical assertions regarding Indraprastha and, more sinisterly, to suggest Humayun deliberately destroyed the city to build the Old Fort. Indraprastha can only be considered a mythological city and I am therefore editing these assertions to make them NPOV. 122.176.206.221 (talk) 15:29, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It cannot be verified if the fort(or anything else) existed during the time of Pandavs. Removing the reference to Pandavs. --Manishdeepak (talk) 17:21, 15 August 2012 (UTC) Excavations carried out at Purana Quila by former Director ASI, Mr. B.B.Lal confirm that pottery belonging to 1000 Years BCE is found in the fort proving that it has a history of minimum 3000 years. Mentions in Mahabharat and other Sanskrit Granths also point to its antiguity up to Mahabharat period and 5000 years ago. Baseless assertions

[edit]

The introduction talks of the fort itself being the oldest structure in Delhi. It also asserts that it was built by the 'Pandavas' before the 'Mahabharata War'. Pray, tell me when did the war happen? Who actually were the Pandavas? When did they live? 5000 years ago? Before the dawn of the Vedic Age? As said above, it is an attempt to saffronize history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.216.172.133 (talk) 18:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
