Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because... (it's a separate article than psychological horror. The article of supernatural horror and supernatural horror film is also separate.) --AimanAbir18plus (talk) 19:19, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
Some issues
[edit]Currently, the article is in a bit of poor state. It continuously contradicts itself, and has tons of unsourced material, and some material is questionable.
Unsure about the following sources:
- Not sure what makes Birth.Death.Movies reliable as a source. Their "About" section just explains the name of the site and that "Springing from the movie-loving culture of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, and now part of the CINESTATE family, Birth.Movies.Death. is putting the fun back in being a nerd." Its not clear how they are related to the company. Their "Terms" page also states "Birth.Movies.Death. makes no representations or warranties as to the accuracy of the Content. Birth.Movies.Death. is not liable for omissions or typographical errors contained in the Content. You acknowledge that any reliance upon any Content shall be at your own risk." making me lean towards it may not be reliable. No indication of paid staff or hierarchy on the site at all.
- Alternative Reel here is just a list with no author. It appears the material is copywritten to something called "Shelf-Life Productions LLC" but I have no indication to what that is.
The material contradicts itself
- The sources in the article can not decide what is psychological horror, but continuously defines it differently. Hayward has stated the genre is interchangable with the slasher film, while the lead states "generally differ from traditional horrors, where the source of the fear is typically something material, such as grotesque or horrifying creatures, monsters, serial killers, or aliens, as well as the splatter and slasher film genres, which derives its frightening effects from gore and graphic violence, in that tension in psychological horror is more frequently built through atmosphere, eerie sounds and exploitation of the viewer's and the character's psychological fears." while also saying " elements of psychological horror and splatter fiction intersect, as seen in films like the French horror High Tension.", so we need to clarify that the definition is broad at least...even swinging into polar opposites. Television
- The article says its a film and television genre, but there is no mention of any television programs at all in the article and their relation or non-relation to the genre.
Needs some cleaning before it can become anything stable. Andrzejbanas (talk) 20:33, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Another point: the long-form bibliographic information for Hayward (2006) needs to be added to the Bibliography section. I've checked and the page cited doesn't seem to correspond to the 2006 edition of Cinema studies: the key concepts. @AimanAbir18plus, could you check this?
