REM Single
[edit]Should the 2007 REM cover be in this article so prominently? I dont think it is relevent in the broader context —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mu301nh (talk • contribs) 10:33, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well it gets a lot of radio airplay and i believe it was the first single of the album so i think it should get its own box, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.233.245.33 (talk) 02:39, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
the #9 in Lennon's life
[edit]do we want the bit about how the #9 figured in Lennon's life? yes, it's a bit trivial. but it is about the recurring #9. i could go either way, but it does add a bit to what would be pretty stumpy. as far as "sources" go, the dates are included in wiki articles; the rest is simple math. what does everyone else think? - I would be much happier if we could find some RS (ideally Lennon himself) remarking on all these 9s. As the Principia Discordia says, I find the Law of 5 to be more and more evident the harder I look... --Gwern (contribs) 17:52 13 March 2009 (GMT)
He does speak of the #9 to some extent. He didn't discuss 1980 however. Hotcop2 (talk) 18:10, 13 March 2009 (UTC) {{quote}}
- A bit late for re-opening this topic, but Lennon did mention the significance of number 9:
It’s just a number that follows me around, but, numerologically, apparently I’m a number six or a three or something, but it’s all part of nine
— John Lennon, 1980, [1]

Dream pop?
[edit]How does a 1980s (according to its own article) genre belong here? Was it put here just as a joke? Radiopathy •talk• 17:45, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- Because '#9 Dream' is usually regarded as a precursor to the dream pop movement, a kind of proto-dream pop song if you will. They certainly took a lot of influence from it, the same way as the punks copied The Stooges, MC5, etc. I'm still not sure if it's appropriate for this article though. The difficulty is that, for example, Raw Power is listed as 'proto-punk' because it's a genre that's been given a name retrospectively, like 'garage punk', 'freakbeat', etc. Seeing as I don't know any other proto-dream pop songs other than this, I don't think that's an option. Unless we just stick "proto-" in front of it in the info box. Jonchapple (talk) 16:28, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'm going to do it. Jonchapple (talk) 14:08, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Opposed. We need to find a reliable source for Dream pop - actually for both genres - or it should be deleted. Radiopathy •talk• 01:08, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
No reliable source in eight months' time; I'm deleting it. Radiopathy •talk• 19:16, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
Psychedelic Pop? Dream Pop?
[edit]Not of that genres, and doesn't exist reference to put that two genres--JamesMarshallHendrix (talk) 02:22, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Legacy
[edit]Undoubtedly John Lennon's finest musical composition. I've added a short passage, together with two sources, to highlight the fact that Number 9 Dream is Kate Bush's personal favourite song. Admittedly one of the sources is only a blog, but it's pretty uncontentious.Multiculturalist (talk) 00:37, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
Why is this article in US English?
[edit]I would have thought UK English for a UK musician, but not. Any ideas why? Red Jay (talk) 18:33, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- What is in the article that needs to be in UK English? I see no date format.... Hotcop2 (talk) 19:21, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- The spelling of favo(u)rite. The date is actually in the usual UK format, when I went to change the spelling there was a box stating it was in US English. Red Jay (talk) 20:41, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- Just had a second look in the text it says to use UK English ! Red Jay (talk) 20:43, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
