Middletown not listed as town
[edit]~IN the list of towns why is Middletown not listed? I used to live there and is where High school North is so I'm suprised it's not on there and that Middletown NJ redirects here. The town list also looks to be wrong... http://www.middletownnj.org/index.asp?Type=B_LIST&SEC={0BDAF583-1B72-4B68-9F0A-95B0136F4602} 24.198.200.173 22:40, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Because Middletown is a township, as it has been since 1664. Septentrionalis 03:27, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes and it also is a town. There Middletown township and then theres middletown the town208.233.32.41 17:06, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Notable residents
[edit]Hi I just wanted to point out that Chung, Povich, and Rivera no longer M-Town residents... Should we eliminate them all together, or note that they've left somehow? STKMKT 23:18, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Many articles have a statement that the section includes both current and former residents. Such a statement will be added here. Alansohn 23:43, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

New Monmouth
[edit]I saw a reference to "New Monmouth, New Jersey" but there was no Wikipedia article on the place. From this article, my impression is that "New Monmouth" is an informal name for a neighborhood in Middletown. On that basis, I've created the New Monmouth, New Jersey article as a redirect to here. If that's wrong, I hope someone more knowledgeable will fix it. JamesMLane t c 16:43, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Julia Pryde, victim of Virginia Tech Massacre
[edit]Why is she notable? There were victims of 9/11 and war Veterans that live in M-Town, that doesn't make them notable, and neither does being a victim in the shooting. It's terrible that she died, but she is not noteworthy or worthy of celebration. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.68.87.196 (talk) 23:17, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
No one has commented, so I am just going to remove her from the notable list. Either that, or fill up the list with everyone whose death was covered by a newspaper, including that guy who decapitated himself at the Hazlet multiplex.
Fire Department
[edit]I added the official websites of the Middletown Township Fire Department and the Middletown Fire Academy. Etow (talk) 19:28, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
I removed the subpage link to Middletown First Aid & Rescue Squad as they are one of five squads in Middletown Township, added the official Middletown Township EMS website, and linked the Middletown First Aid & Rescue Squad subpage appropriately. Etow (talk) 19:28, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Education
[edit]I added the official website for Oak Hill Academy. Etow (talk) 19:28, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Middletown Twp. NJ
[edit]From Highlands to Many Mine Creek and along rt. 36 you state that that is Middletown, NJ. It is not but rather, it is Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Stork1958 (talk) 22:26, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
Orphaned references in Middletown Township, New Jersey
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Middletown Township, New Jersey's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

"The next piece of historical information occurs almost two centuries later, in 1871, when William B. Bradner purchased fifty-four acres of land south of Ocean Grove. James A. Bradley, a wealthy New York manufacturer, was also in the investment. The land was part of Ocean Township at the time and subsequently became part of Neptune Township under the name of Ocean Park. However, the post office informed Bradner that the community would have to change its name due to its similarity to Ocean Port. William Bradner did not want to suggest his own name, so one of the post office officials said, 'You have a man down here by the name of Bradley. Why don't you call it Bradley Beach?'"

The name Manalapan translate from the Lenape Indian Words 'manel' for drinking and 'paune' for bread meant good land to settle upon, for the Indians.... You are well aware that Manalapan was the site of the Battle of Monmouth, a Revolutionary War engagement held on June 28, 1778 involving 30,000 British and Continental troops. On the two hundredth anniversary of the Battle, in 1978, the State opened the 1,520 acre Monmouth Battlefield State Park. Eighty percent of the Park is in Manalapan Township."
