Stadiums

[edit]

Someone's vandalizing the stadiums section.

"

   * Mario Stadium[4] (Name confirmed)
   * Peach Rink (Name confirmed)
   * Wario City(Name confirmed)
   * Yoshi Park[5] (Name confirmed)
   * DK Jungle[5] (Name confirmed)
   * Daisy Rink (Name confirmed)
   * Waluigi Fare[4] (Name confirmed)
   * Ice Cream Beach[4] (Name confirmed)
   * Lollipop Pool[4] (Name confirmed)
   * Luigi's Mansion (Name confirmed)

"

Daisy Rink doesn't exist. It's Peach's. Daisy has a cruiseship ala Mario Kart Double Dash. Waluigi doesn't have a stadium. 'Ice Cream Beach' and 'Lollipop Pool' don't exist and the citation leads to a Japanese scan of the stadium select screen. The umbrellas may look like lollipops, but that area is just the runthrough of Mario Stadium's challenge mode. The stadiums have already been confirmed in the Japanese version and I doubt they'd add more in the English one. Mario has a stadium, Peach has an ice rink/theatre hybrid. Daisy has a cruise ship. Yoshi has an odd amusement park of sorts, DK some sort of temple/jungle. Wario has a city. Luigi has a mansion (but it can only be played on the night time setting unlike the others), and the Bowser Jr. course turns into the Bowser course at night time. The list should be more like:

"

   * Mario Stadium (Name confirmed)
   * Peach Rink (Name Confirmed)
   * Wario City (Name confirmed)
   * Yoshi Park
   * DK Jungle
   * Daisy Cruiser (Name confirmed)
   * Luigi's Mansion
   * Koopa Jr.'s Room (Direct Japanese Translation)
   * A Bowser Field (English Name Unknown)

"

King K. Rool, Funky Kong, Tiny Kong, and Kritter (a Kremling) confirmed

[edit]

Yes! Finally, King K. Rool makes a DECENT comeback! Also, I forgot to mention that Wiggler is confirmed as well. Article: http://gonintendo.com/?p=45300

I know this is a Mario game...

[edit]

...and real-world physics hardly matter, if at all, but you have to wonder at the ability of a baby/toddler (Baby Mario/Luigi) to lift and use a baseball bat at all, never mind effectively! Yellow Mage (talk) 09:56, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see your point, but if baby Mario was standing at the plate, unable to pick up his bat and you were fizzing ball after ball past his stupid face, it would not be that fun? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.192.36.170 (talk) 23:05, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Son, this is one mixed up world. The proof? Goombas can wield baseball bats as well as gloves and Boos can kick soccer balls (Mario Strikers). Hero of legend (talk) 01:40, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proof of all new characters

[edit]

Excuse me, but I need to verify this information. Could someone please give me the source? Thanks. ♥, Ivyluv (talk) 00:33, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just went ahead and removed ALL of them. I'll re-add the following characters in a minute. Oh, sure, there are some obvious givens, but the only ones I've seen ANY evidence of are:
No one else at all. Unless someone else has a SOURCE, add NO CHARACTERS. --HeroicJay (talk) 07:50, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the list I deleted had "Magikoopa" and "Kamek" listed separately. The Japanese games do not distinguish between the two; we will almost certainly not get both. --HeroicJay (talk) 07:54, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OH OH PICK ME PICK ME!!!!!!!!! *pants*. Baby Peach and Baby DK are on the boxart, juts pointing it out :-)_Sonic&Mario Kid —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.99.97.140 (talk) 01:13, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, yes, but how was I supposed to know that two months ago before the box art was released?! (Look at the timestamp on the above post - April!) --HeroicJay (talk) 17:26, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heres more PC

Hold up. Weren't you the same person trying to remove Birdo from the Mario Kart page earlier today? --HeroicJay —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.107.0.73 (talk) 21:50, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
1st off this is Mario baseball. 2nd why are you using someone else's name. 3rd I took Birdo off b/c you need to show proof of them being in, like I'm doing now showing proof of PC in Mario baseball wii. And last IF you can read your lover Birdo is on the list with proof.--Lbrun12415 22:02, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not using someone else's name; I'm the same as the HeroicJay above, but not on my home computer. I'm remarking because it seems kinda hypocritical of you to put this forward (another Wiki doesn't count as proof when it isn't sourced properly) when there was, when you removed Birdo, more evidence of him/her being in MKWii than half the characters on that page being in SMSB now (likely though most of them are). And please don't try to start a flame war with me by implying that I consider a video game character that isn't even human to be my "lover". --HeroicJay —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.107.0.73 (talk) 22:46, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well its fixed now and plus that other wiki have more proof on the baseball that we can use here.--Lbrun12415 22:48, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't look fixed to me. The other Wiki only includes a link to IGN and the very same pictures we're using as sources here. --131.107.0.73 (talk) 22:52, 8 April 2008 (UTC) ([HeriocJay])[reply]
Please don't move the conversation to my talk page, especially since I will have a hard time finding said talk page when I go home later. Anyway, I thought you meant the Wiki had fixed its lack of sources. Sorry for the misunderstanding. --HJay —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.107.0.73 (talk) 23:00, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Its ok I'm sorry also but heres the link i tried to give you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Kart#Playable_characters .Every thing is fixed.--Lbrun12415 23:02, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just saw Solid Snake in the new characters section, along with Cpt. Falcon and many others. In fact, it looks like most of the characters from Super Smash Bros. Brawl were in that section. Can anyone confirm this, or is this just a lie? PastramiX (talk) 15:51, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This may be a lie. 69.235.23.167 (talk) 23:49, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And you are absolutely right. The game has been released as months now and none of those characters are featured.trainfan01 talk 21:11, April 9, 2011 (UTC0

Gamecube

[edit]

Has there been anything about playing with the gamecube controllers, like in Mario Kart Wii and Brawl? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.221.93.21 (talk) 19:48, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Complete Roster

[edit]

The Roster that is on the page right now is complete, due to the fact that the character screen was full. So, anymore added characters are FAKE. Roasalin and Dry Bowser are not in, Baby Wario isn't, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.221.93.21 (talk) 21:36, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why not Rosi? I mean, she was in MKW, so why not MSS? ♥, Ivyluv (talk) 07:41, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandals...

[edit]

I just cleared the page with all the crap about Ash Ketchem and Claus from Earthbound being in the game. This article needs more protection because of its frequent amount of vandalism. Does anyone know how to block the page?AlexanderLD (talk) 11:19, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ignore them. Just a bunch of Brawl fanboys. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.215.157.66 (talk) 18:49, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Release

[edit]

Gamestop says August 2. We will keep an AUGUST 2 release until another date is revealed by Nintendo. Also, only characters with a source will stay on this page... I am tired of constantly having to change it!69.121.102.73 (talk) 13:12, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning the release date, see WP:VG/DATE: "For unreleased games, vendor sites should not be used as verifiable sources since their date is likely based on their best estimate of when the game is to be out; always look for corroborating statements from reliable sources to confirm these dates." --Silver Edge (talk) 13:25, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it isn't only Gamestop. I have read that August 2 is the release on other sites too. You just have to look harder! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.102.73 (talk) 17:31, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe for a second that places like Gamespot or even IGN are reliable sources for dates (the latter being referenced for the NA release date) before the official date has been officially announced. IGN is often changing their dates, otherwise guessing if the official date hasn't been announced. Cipher (Talk) 08:28, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, until someone can come up with a more reliable reference than the IGN page, stop changing the release date! Chaoshi (talk) 02:28, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Captains

[edit]

We should make a subsection for Captain Characters and teammates. Chaoshi (talk) 21:15, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Daisy Gardens?

[edit]

I looked at the link picture and I don't see anything that can be Daisy Gardens. The place with the flowers is Peach Rink ,look inside. Plus it has a pink carpet layed out. Peach's color is pink. Just like Mario's stadium's carpet is red and Luigi's mansion is green.

NA release date

[edit]

In the first paragraph, it says that the launch is Aug. 25, but in the infobox, it says Aug. 1. frogTape (talk) 04:29, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's because some morons keep changing the date, even though our source says otherwise. Chaoshi (talk) 05:57, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

A few things I want to discuss:

1. Where does it say that there will be 50 stages in the game?

2. I've looked at the sourced page, and I cannot find any of the so-called "confirmed stages" mentioned in the article.

3. Why do we need to say which series the characters came from? That's what the links are for!

Chaoshi (talk) 19:38, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comparison to Wii Baseball

[edit]

I'd like a comparison to Wii Baseball.

Does this game have:

3 innings, or does it have the traditional 9.5?

The mercy rule, or do you go the full game?

76.126.15.78 (talk) 01:05, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can change the number of innings from a 3-inning game to a 5, 7, or 9 inning game in exhibition mode. In the other modes it depends. 166.70.59.63 (talk) 20:24, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Update

[edit]

I believe that the North American release date should be changed to August 24. It will be releasing early for the Nintendo World Store.AlexanderLD (talk) 19:27, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Delay

[edit]

I've been seeing all stores in the United States saying that the game will be released on August 26th. The release date should be shown as August 26th because of this.

No games always have a release date earlier than when they are in stores. The games are "shipped" on the 25, but are available for sale on the 26. Most of the time you need to add one extra day for the actual release. In the future remember to sign your posts.AlexanderLD (talk) 01:31, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I was wondering why some of the external links were removed. They were there for a legitimate purpose. Seeing that there was no official wiki page for the sidegame that has been going on in conjunction with the release of the game, please let us know why they were removed. DCB316 (talk) 21:46, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have a problem...

[edit]

The mods of the collectible card game put the Baby Daisy link on here, and pointed people to this page in order to get the card. Now, without the Baby Daisy link on this page, people will be forced to swap or look on specialist sites for information... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.158.140.169 (talk) 19:41, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

EU Release Date

[edit]

The latest issue of Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK lists Mario Super Sluggers as "TBA June". Well, wither that or July. Still, is that a good enough source to list an EU release date for Summer 2009? Cipher (Talk) 20:18, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm unsure how trustful that magazine is, but it wouldn't be wrong to change the EU and AU dates to "TBA 2009", if any. A release this year in the named regions is highly unlikely. The game doesn't even appear on Nintendo.com.au anymore. --Grandy02 (talk) 17:51, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The entire year has passed and there has been no release of this game in Europe at all. It likely will never be released in Europe anyway because nobody plays baseball there (the sports are mainly cricket and football and soccer). trainfan01 —Preceding undated comment added 04:01, 5 July 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Characters section

[edit]

I have removed this section as it is completely nonencyclopedic fancruft. It belongs on a Fan Wiki more than anything. trainfan01 19:01, July 5, 2010

Re-assessment

[edit]

I am re-assessing this as Start-class, but it is probably not too far from a C. Salvidrim (talk) 00:32, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
