Error on ship 154 Dannebrog

[edit]

In the article it says, that the owner of Dannebrog (Ship nr. 154) is Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. This is wrong. First of all, the ship is owned by the Danish state and is a part of the Danish navy (https://www.forsvaret.dk/en/organisation/navy/structure-of-the-navy/ under 1st Squadron ).

It is only used by the royal family. The current sovereign of Denmark is not Queen Margerethe II, but King Frederik X.

So should the danish royal ship be on the list, when it's owned by the state? 77.33.188.57 (talk) 09:11, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Its not uncommon for royal and presidential yachts to be listed as part of the country's navy. This is likely done as they are often staffed naval personnel and maintined by the navy, both of which are budgetary issues, and there are likely legal reasons as well. This has come up here before, when another naval ship, which was used by the head of state, was listed here and then removed after some discussion. Bascially there are yachts, which are part of the navy, and naval ships, occasionally used as yachts. We can usually sort out which is which readily enough, but if there's ever any doubt, we discuss it and it gets sorted out. Hope this helps - wolf 03:34, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
