Could this really be true? Almost ten times as much moolah goes to Yankee players than Fish players... How is this fair?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.106.231.179 (talk) 10:25, 30 November 2008
Requested move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the proposal was not moved for now. The problem here is that most of the opinions below are not about moving at all. The implication of creating a new list for 2012, and merging the present content there, is that this would then be reverted to the 2010 numbers, and should therefore retain this name. If, on the other hand, we are to merge all other similarly situated articles here (or to one of the other year-name iterations), then that should be advertised and discussed but moving this would be premature. And if this (and others) are to be deleted, that cannot happen through a move request. So in sum there's too much up in the air to support a move now based on the discussion below. Do or make a merge discussion and advertise; take them AfD. We can revisit thereafter, if necessary.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:05, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2010 → List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll – ...over redirect; article has been updated with 2012's numbers. 98.229.223.5 (talk) 22:08, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- We also have a list for 2011 strongly suggesting that new lists are created each year. I see 2 options, First create a new 2012 list or merge all of the articles into a main one.--174.93.169.157 (talk) 02:38, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- I still believe this info should be deleted as unencyclopedic. The last keep vote used "newsworthy" as a keep argument, and I'm kicking myself for missing that. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:35, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- I agree articles like this should be deleted. If the consensus is they should be kept, then they should at least be merged. Either way, RM probably isn't the right place to discuss this. Jenks24 (talk) 02:31, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support delete both articles as unencyclopedic. --Falcadore (talk) 08:02, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll ...
[edit]This discussion has been moved to here from Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. |
- Hi, I'd like to request this version of List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2012 be moved to List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2010 and maybe a histmerge of the newer content to List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2012. I moved the page to List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2012 because the content referenced 2012, but I think there should be 2 separate articles, one about 2010 and one about 2012. Thanks, Natg 19 (talk) 23:25, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Natg 19: "... a histmerge of the newer content to List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2012" looks like a move of a page to itself.
- "this version of List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2012 be moved to List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2010" looks like extracting and moving one edit, thus interrupting the history of List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2012; copy-and-pasting that one edit would be easier, and similarly to put correct information in page List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2011. Or do you want a history-split, moving this edit and all previous edits to List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2010 (which currently has one edit, which is a redirect), thus breaking a history? Or, people who want to see List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll as in old years could easier be directed to the relevant old edit of whatever page that information is in.
- List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2013 and List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2014 do not exist; where is that team list information? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:28, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Anthony Appleyard, I would like a history-split, or maybe the other option of redirecting to the old edit. Is one of these options better than the other? I actually did not know that it was possible to redirect to an old edit.
- As for where List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2013 and List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2014 are, no one has created those pages yet and I was planning to create those pages once this gets sorted out. Thanks, Natg 19 (talk) 06:14, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Natg 19: Like this: List of Major League Baseball teams by payroll in 2010. Anthony Appleyard (talk)

- Thanks, User:Samwalton9! What should be done about the talk pages of these articles? Should they both go to the same talk page? Natg 19 (talk) 20:25, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
- I didn't realise it was redirecting so I've moved the afd template to the correct article and just removed the redirect. I don't think we need to go to the trouble of moving the above discussions which technically belong on the other page. Sam Walton (talk) 20:29, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
