TV appearances

Is this really all her appearances? I've watched hardly any of them (besides Murphy Brown), yet I'm sure I've seen her all over on a lot of TV shows as a guest star. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.206.174.131 (talk) 00:31, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Out?

her not being out is a giant lie, she always has been, just because mainstream media is homophobic doesn't mean she wasn't out.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.20.117.106 (talkcontribs)

Its not homophobia... it's not paying attention, that's all. She's not the first celebrity who followed up their "outing" by saying "Hey, when exactly was I hiding my sexual orientation?" Look at Richard Chamberlain, for crying out loud... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.84.26.82 (talk) 04:09, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
It is homophobia -- "not paying attention" is ridiculous and no one can honestly believe such silliness, especially when, as Tomlin noted, the media would leave out her mention of Jane Wagner. Not that that's relevant to Wikipedia. What is relevant is this nonsense about "Tomlin officially came out to the press in 2001". First, the word "officially" is misused there and should be stricken. Secondly, it's simply false -- she was never not out. If 2001 is the first time she explicitly referred to herself as "gay", the article could say that, if it were important, but it's not. -- 98.108.225.240 (talk) 06:44, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

comedy albums

Why is there no mention of her comedy recordings?

Spouse?

"Spouse(s) Jane Wagner ca. (1972-present)"

They were married in 1972? -75.136.202.14 07:41, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

"Tree cutting dispute"

The "tree cutting dispute section" is trivia. It does not belong in this article. It also is just a cut-and-paste version of a news article. If it stays, it needs to be cleaned up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.160.46.126 (talk) 17:49, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

This is a little much.

This-Though drag had been performed in Hollywood for some time by men, Tomlin broke new ground by not only crossing gender stereotypes, but racial ones as well. Gee, biased much? I am removing it because there are no sources, and it sounds like Fancruft.--74.240.238.238 (talk) 19:16, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

I agree with the edit. I disagree with the edit summary, and the use of the word "cruft". It is never not a profound insult; don't say it isn't, it is. We're supposed to assume good faith. The blunt truth about the material is that it was "unsourced POV material". No need for any vitriol. The purpose here is to improve the encyclopedia, not to demoralize or rile up editors. Tomlin's characters

It would be interesting to include how Tomlin came up with some of her well-known characters. For example, how did she come up with Edith Ann? She can portray a 5 year old down to the movements a small kid has. Did she observe hundreds of 5 year olds or what? At any rate, it would be great if someone had some answers and informative. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.23.105.146 (talk) 10:40, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
