GA criteria

[edit]
  • Well-written:

    (a) the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct
    (b) it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation
  • Verifiable with no original research:
  • Post followup to the suggestions in "Comments", below, the article fully checks out in terms of its use of reliable references, and application of citations. Herein dwells the greatest dictionary ever composed! (talk) 20:29, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    (a) it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline

    (c) it contains no original research
  • Broad in its coverage:
  • Looks like the article covers all encyclopedically relevant aspects of the subject. Nothing trivial or crufty. Herein dwells the greatest dictionary ever composed! (talk) 03:53, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.

  • In all near-four years of the article's existence, it has never been subjected to disruptive editing. Herein dwells the greatest dictionary ever composed! (talk) 03:43, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
  • All images used in the article serve an informative-illustrative purpose, and all use appropriate licensing. On a side-note, these are some very attractive photographs. Herein dwells the greatest dictionary ever composed! (talk) 03:41, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    (a) media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content

    Comments

    • "Superfine sugar [...], which is more finely ground compared to standard granulated sugar, is sometimes used to sugar the rim of the glass." Since this sentence immediately follows one which directly refers to the process of sugaring the rim of the glass, wouldn't it be simpler to say, "Superfine sugar [...], which is more finely ground compared to standard granulated sugar, is sometimes used for this purpose"?
Done I agree with simplifying the sentence in the manner, which has been performed in the article (diff). North America1000 15:57, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • "The Lemon Drop was invented by Norman Jay Hobday, the founder and proprietor of Henry Africa's [...]. The drink was invented sometime in the 1970s by Hobday at Henry Africa's, and was originally served in a cocktail glass." Rather than repeating names and locations, I might recommend rewording this as "The Lemon Drop was invented by Norman Jay Hobday, the founder and proprietor of Henry Africa's [...]. He invented the drink sometime in the 1970s, originally serving it at Henry Africa's in a cocktail glass."
Done I have reworded the content as suggested above, but not verbatim. See diff. North America1000 16:02, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • On that line in the second paragraph of "Overview"; "Additional ingredients may also be used in the drink's preparation."... Is it possible for one of the sources in the article's list of references to be directly cited after this line? I looked through the citations in the immediately surrounding sentences, but I didn't notice any direct mentioning of this. While I'm sure the statement is true, I'd just feel better about verifying the article's compliance with references-related criteria if this were cited. Excellent, on all three counts! Herein dwells the greatest dictionary ever composed! (talk) 20:27, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article now checks out. Congratulations! Herein dwells the greatest dictionary ever composed! (talk) 20:31, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
