The route diagramme in the article is based on the photograph of the office of the sawmill, the blurry map and a modern Google satellite view, as follows:

1. The photograph does not only show the office but also a storage area for seasoning the wood. Thus I assume that this was the location of the saw mill.
2. The blurry map shows three black lines running from north to south. I assume that the right hand line is the tram to the saw mill shown in the photo
3. The satellite view shows a possible tram route towards south-east on School street, with a diagonal crossing underneath the NZR line. The tramway then continues towards south-east on the other side of the NZR line. I assume that this was the tram line currently sketched in the route diagram in the article.

However, it would be far more practical to connect Knight's tramway nearer to the station to NZR line, as shown in this diagram on the discussion page. Does anyone find a better map of the area, which shows the railway tracks? --NearEMPTiness (talk) 02:58, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:RaurimuSpiral.jpg

File:RaurimuSpiral.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a non-free use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Thank you for the hint. As the map is very blurry, there might be better maps for showing Knight's tram, so that I do not want to apply for Fair Use on this occasion, and would object to the map being removed from this article. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 08:13, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

@NearEMPTiness: The above template was not a hint or a suggestion. A separate specific non-free use rationale is needed for each use of a non-free file, and files lacking such a rationale for some of their uses can and will be removed from articles. It is the reponsibility of those want to use non-free content in a particular way to provide the required rationale as explained in WP:NFCCE; so, if you want to use the file in this article, please provide the rationale. Providing a rationale does not mean the particular use of the file is policy compliant as explained in WP:JUSTONE, but it at least gives others something assess. -- Marchjuly (talk) 15:46, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Thanks for the explanation. I have added the following rationale:

In Knight's tram, Raurimu

• to illustrate the layout of Knight's tram, Raurimu (probalby the right of the three tramlines in south-northerly direction) in relation to Raurimu Spiral;
• no alternative historic maps could be found on the internet;
• this map ist the only map known, showing the tramlines near Raumiru and is thus an important reference;
• the map cannot be found on the internet, so that a link cannnot be installe to it (unless linking to the Wikipedia page, which is the next best alternative);
• not used in a way which compromises the original copyright holders' interests/rights.--NearEMPTiness (talk) 21:00, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for doing that. Now, there's one more very important thing that perhaps you can help with. All files uploaded as non-free content are required (per WP:NFCC#4) to have been at least WP:PUBLISHED by their original copyright holders and are required to be provided (per WP:NFCC#10a) to be provided with sufficient information about their source to allow for their copyright status to be assessed. Generally, a link to where the file can be seen online is sufficient to allow both of these things to be done, but the name of a book, magazine, or other print publication in which the image appeared also tends to be sufficient. Right now, the file doesn't really have any of that, which means it could be tagged with {{nsd}} per WP:F4 and deleted. I realize the file was uploaded by Ahseaton and not you yourself, but Ahseaton hasn't edited since November of last year. So, if you know anything more about where this file came from, even if you've remeber seeing it in a book, etc. that you once read, please add that information to the file's page as well. You can ask about this at WP:MCQ since someone there may be able to help you track down where it came from. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:18, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
