Fugitive?

[edit]

Somehow there seems to be an edit war brewing over the categorization of this man as a fugitive "wanted by" Singapore.
The heading of the Fugitives category (Category:Fugitives) reads "Articles about fugitives, persons who are fleeing from custody, whether it be from jail, a government arrest, government or non-government questioning, vigilante violence, or outraged private individuals."
He's been captured. He's been executed. He's not a fugitive. He's not wanted.
I'm not really up for this fight, but can't fathom how this is an issue. It seems that you have a beef with User:AlexBalder01 but sometimes a stopped clock.... Oblivy (talk) 07:30, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just as he is not anymore wanted by Singapore, he is also not a murderer or robber of Singapore. But he was a robber and murderer in Singapore and also was wanted by Singapore. Categories are not about current events, but events throughout the whole life. At Politicians who often change the party, all parties are included as categories, not just the current party. Categories are relevant even after they leave a party.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 09:59, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Are you saying "categories are about events throughout the whole life" is WP:Policy? The plain meaning of the category definition ("persons who are") and the cat name ("wanted by") don't support it. You analogize to other types of category but this one seems pretty clear. Oblivy (talk) 19:39, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you insist we can take it to an another level, but I suggest we just leave it. Other executed Singaporean are also in the category, probably for a similar rationale. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 20:11, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure what "take it to another level" is supposed to mean. Editors are expected to discuss disagreements in good faith to try to reach consensus. You posted on my talk page, and I brought it to the article talk page to see if maybe we could work it out with input from other editors. It's clear you won't engage with the plain language attached to the category. Saying other pages have the same issue doesn't help. Let's leave it. I'll go work on other things.
