Page name typo? Shouldn't the page title be Kōmeitō and not Komeitō?--Ymirfrostgiant (talk) 16:47, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"They failed to win seats at the various elections..."

Which elections? Clearly it was winning elections at some point.

Basically this article has little changed from its first incarnation, which was written by an anonymous contributor who plainly had an axe to grind. I have already deleted a blatant falsehood, but the article still needs a serious clean up and fact check. If anyone gets to this before I do then I will of course be glad to help. I should declare my interest here: I am a member of Soka Gakkai International outside Japan, but if I were Japanese I most certainly would not vote for the New Komeito Party. The history of the relationship between Soka Gakkai and Komeito is a complicated one and is still, in significant ways, problematic. My personal impression, for what it's worth (albeit from a long distance away), is that, as the Soka Gakkai has matured as a cultural entity, rank-and-file Gakkai members have in general become less inclined to confuse loyalty to Komeito or its successor with loyalty to the Soka Gakkai or to Buddhism itself. I read somewhere that the backing New Komeito gave to Koizumi's support for the occupation of Iraq lost it a great deal of support among Soka Gakkai members. That's obviously not directly relevant to this article, but perhaps it at least gives a flavour of the kind of organisation the former Komeito was. I agree with you. I have added the few I knew on the matter. I deleted the phrase "They failed to win seats at the various elections..." because 1/ There is no source 2/ My sources indicate this is absolutely false 3/ It appears to me this statement is completely biased. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.189.243.88 (talk) 21:34, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Independent party

[edit]

Komeito and Soka Gakkai are separate. The "leadership and financing of the two groups are currently self-proclaimed to be independent", is POV, suggesting that the claim is false. The only evidence cited in opposition to this is the "official 2008 Soka Gakkai International (SGI) press release stated "official liaison meetings between New Komeito and the Soka Gakkai are held at least twice a year". Meetings twice a year does suggest that these are separate organisations, not the contrary. Furthermore "leadership and financing" are indeed separate, a close alliance between the two groups does nothing to suggest that the "leadership and financing" are combined.Royalcourtier (talk) 18:30, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship with Soka Gakkai

[edit]

Added a comparison that I think makes clearer and more understandable to support K receives form Soka Gakkai members.--Daveler16 (talk) 18:08, 19 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
