Background Info

[edit]

I'm not great at editing, but I found some info on "Chopper" if someone wants to rewrite this page. Just plug the names "Dan Towbin" and "Carolynn Towbin" into Google and you'll get a lot of background on his daddy. Also interesting, the press release on his website http://www.kingofcars.com/beentertained/press/RJ01.html tries to pretend that he worked his way to being "general sales manager" and then "general manager," while being careful to insinuate that Dan Towbin isn't his dad.

Carolynn Towbin (aka Josh's mother) was almost killed after a beam dropped on her at a fast food restaurant and broke her back. They settled with the restaurant's parent company and started the dealership with the money. Source: http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/1998/Aug-21-Fri-1998/news/8049585.html

Joel Towbin (aka Josh's Uncle) is an Aspen resident whose family started in the automobile dealership business in New Jersey in 1948. Towbin owned a Volkswagen dealership in the 1970s, then later sold Chevrolets. He was a vice president in a California company with 17 dealerships, and opened two dealerships with his brother (Dan Towbin aka Josh's Dad) in Las Vegas in the late 1980s. Context

[edit]

From this article, I can't tell if the subject is a fictional character or a real person. -- Mikeblas 19:58, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The tags I added were removed without explanation. I had the time to do some context cleanup myself, after figuring out that Towbin is a real person playing a role on a reality TV series. That should now be clearer in the article. The article remains uncategorized, so I've replaced that tag. -- Mikeblas 15:18, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually the name chop was a cocaine use reference... I know.. I grew up with Josh.this article is horrible. must have written it himself.68.108.109.174 13:15, 20 August 2007 (UTC)bb[reply]

The legend of Josh Towbin

[edit]

I think that this page tells the legend rather than the real story of this guy. As far as I know, Josh Towbin was kind of born into his position at Towbin Dodge (his father started the dealership AFAIK, not Josh Towbin,) and I don't think the day-to-day goings on at Towbin Dodge are as wacky as his trite "reality" show would lead us to believe. Most of the material of this article sounds like it's sourced from King of Cars. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.104.118.132 (talkcontribs)

I agree, 68.104. I'm hoping that someone can help part fact from fiction. -- Mikeblas 08:29, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

not verifiable

[edit]

I've removed the dub wheels partnership sentence. Towbin might have a partnership with some specific vendor, but certainly doesn't have a partnership with a generic type of wheels. This article is in very poor shape for verifiability, so if the partnership statement comes back, I'd like to see it have a reference and be more specific. (What's the partnership for? What are the benefits?) -- Mikeblas 02:27, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ownership

[edit]

I think someone needs to verify with the Secretary of State of the State of Nevada the ownership of Towbin Dodge before declaring this guy to be the owner. The more appropriate title for this guy would be the star of a television show. The guy is absolutely not the owner of this dealership and this article needs to be edited by someone with factual, verifiable, works-cited information. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bryanmenard (talkcontribs) 21:00, 8 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Towbin Dodge Is a bad dealership. It's just a bunch of lights and glitter too hide the fax that they sale bad used car's and make bad deal's

^^ Any proof? Please share TommyDaniels 08:08, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I was thinking that Josh Towbin was just the General Manager of the dealership, but according to the March 30, 2006 Las Vegas Weekly (http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/2006/03/30/feature1.html) he is in fact the owner. Quote from the article: "When Towbin Dodge opened in 1998 with Chop as owner, the show moved there." Cliffordzang 00:54, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Nevada Secretary of State's office, Towbin Dodge LLC, the official name of this outfit, has only one person with the Surname "Towbin" listed on the record at all and it's Daniel L. Towbin. So, this matter can be put to bed. He's not even an officer in the company. He's an employee, if anything. He can imply anything he wants, but Wikipedia is encyclopedic and we should edit the article to reflect information garnered from official sources...Las Vegas Weekly doesn't constitute an official source for determining ownership and is merely reporting as a media source --Bryanmenard 16:17, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is the ugliest article I have ever seen

[edit]

would there be any objections to removing all of the citation contexts, and simply labeling the article as a stub. Thank you for looking out! OfForByThePeople 02:20, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
