This paragraph seems contradictory

[edit]

In the quote below, it seems initially that Jnanadanandini appoints a nurse because she wants somebody do look after her children. But then in the last sentence it seems she resents leaving them with a nurse. In either case, the wording of her husband's wishes is convoluted and difficult to untangle! (a double negative?): "In yet another undaunted act of courage, Jnanadanandini appointed a Muslim woman as wet nurse for her children. Leaving newborns to the care of a wet nurse or governess of a Hindu caste was common practice in affluent Indian families of the day. However, Jnanadanandini resented leaving her children in the custody of servants—often against the wishes of her own husband—making evident the emotional contours of a nuclear family that were already beginning to evolve in her mind." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aniish72 (talkcontribs) 01:52, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
