I'll review this article tomorrow. On a surface read, I note that the subsections for Colorado Rockies and Cincinnati Reds (the years) really aren't needed since it's only a couple paragraphs each. Those can be removed. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 05:32, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the issues I found with the article:

  • "Affeldt participated in three sports while there," what were the two other sports. did he have any performances of note in high school?

I can't find anywhere what those two other sports were. Although I would assume they were basketball and football, this information does not seem to be available. Also, I can't find any performances of note mentioned either. Sorry. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:15, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's ok. I found that he did play basketball in high school via a few stat sheets, but am looking for a ref we can actually use that notes that. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 20:28, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Minor league performances need referencing, each year. that can probably be done with the B-R minors page.
  • all dashes (-) need to be converted to –, i.e. 7–0 instead of 7-0
  • The x in baseball pipelinks are discouraged and should be removed.
  • Anything non-stat related that can be added? for example, was he a non-roster invitee to spring training any years?

Times on the DL, which I believe fall into this category, are mentioned. As for being a non-roster invitee, that has not happened to him yet. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 14:06, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • "His major league debut came on April 6, against the Chicago White Sox" comma not needed
  • What was the reason for his disabled list stay in 2004?
  • "career-high thirteen saves" 13 can just be written as the number
  • "Despite all the injuries, Affeldt actually had a 2.18 ERA through July 27." this sounds a bit odd; i don't think being injured would bump up an era seeing as how one doesn't pitch on the injured list.
  • For a career year, I'm sure 2009 could be beefed up a little bit. if there's nothing beyond what game logs would say, however, this can be ignored.
  • Overall, the article feels almost too stat-reliant to tell the story. Any quotes from managers on his progression from a starter to the bullpen, for example? Anything that he said after any trades or free agent signings? Little things like that can go a long way for an article like this.
  • I wouldn't consider ref #67 (sbnation) to be a reliable source; I can't seem to access it anyway.

I'll put this on hold for a week. If the concerns aren't addressed, the article will be failed. If they are, I'll read through the article again to make sure I didn't miss anything. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 04:10, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think I addressed all the changes listed, but if you want more, let me know ASAP and I'll address them ASAP. Thanks for the review, by the way. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 21:08, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article certainly looks better now; I'll give this another read-through tomorrow to see if anything else needs to be added. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 01:41, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

After a second read, I don't see any remaining issues. If you wish to go further with this article, either have a peer review done or check with an expert on a different sport; they can spot jargon problems that people familiar with baseball won't (like myself). Anyway, this article satisfies the GA criteria now, so I'll pass it. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 04:48, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
