James Davíd RodríguezJames Rodríguez — No need for the middle name, which is spelled incorrectly since the I in David is not accented in Spanish. "James Rodríguez" currently is a redirect to James Roday since that is his real name, although it is unlikely that actor is know by his real name or it is spelled with an accent in Rodriguez. —Digirami (talk) 23:58, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, There must be also a mention somewhere to the fact that he wants to be called "JAMES" as is written in Spanish and not as is normally pronounced in english . --Jor70 (talk) 00:44, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article Issues

[edit]

Perusing the introduction and the "style of play" section, this article has some serious issues. It reads as an incredibly biased, unencyclopedic account written by a fan. The use of goal.com and bleacher report as references is also a concern, particularly the same article being linked a number of times. I'd like to know what you think. Native to Ibague?

So, 90€ or 80€ Million?

[edit]

We have this sentence in the opening "Rodríguez moved from Monaco to Real Madrid for a transfer fee of €90 million", backed by a ref of BBC.

Then in the Real Madrid section, "Rodríguez signed a 6-year contract with Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee, reported to be around €79.5 million.", backed by several websites.

One of them should change, in my opinion.–HD Ask, comment, talk! 00:32, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I go with 80 as this is more reported and the BBC says that it CAN reach 90 if several things happen (Titles won etc.). Kante4 (talk) 09:40, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Sponsorship Section

[edit]

The sponsorship section includes the following phrase "During his early days playing in South America, Rodríguez was approached by Adidas's head scout Claus Peter Meyer.[113]" [113] links to the following article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup/10942617/World-Cup-2014-no-ceiling-to-what-Colombian-James-Rodriguez-can-achieve.html

The 'section sentence' is accurate insofar as the spelling of Meyer's name is consistent with the spelling in the article and his title is consistent with the title given in the article. Out of personal curiosity, I did an internet search on Meyer (I was interested in what his job entailed)...but came up with two things: (1) notwithstanding how he was identified in the Telegraph article, it appears the correct spelling of his name is "Claus-Peter Mayer" (not "Claus Peter Meyer"). (2) I couldn't find further support for his job title being "head scout"...in fact, everything I've seen refers to him as being a marketing VP with Adidas. Both is German and English language profiles refer to him as being the VP of Global Sports Marketing for Adidas (include the apparently 'correct' spelling of his name I noted above. http://de.linkedin.com/pub/claus-peter-mayer/5/80/612. {{cite web}}: Missing or empty |title= (help) http://www.linkedin.com/pub/claus-peter-mayer/5/80/612. {{cite web}}: Missing or empty |title= (help)

In addition, this youtube video interview with him, besides using the 'correct' spelling of his name, also lists his job title "VP Global Sports Marketing - Football, Adidas". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hySPCHnvMnc. {{cite web}}: Missing or empty |title= (help)

I haven't made further changes to the article to reflect my "findings" b/c I'm new to editing here and wasn't sure the appropriate protocol a newspaper as reputable as the Telegraph contains info, cited in a wiki article, which seems at odds with what else is out there so thought i'd come here and ask instead.

Providing others want the reference to him (and accompanying link) to remain in the sponsorship section...

1. At a minimum, I think the spelling of his name should be changed from "Claus Peter Meyer" to "Claus-Peter Mayer" 2. Consideration should be given to whether it's appropriate to call him a 'head scout' for Adidas. To me, calling someone a "head scout" (even for a corporation) connotes a very different meaning than referring to someone as a Marketing VP.

The alternative is the sentence referring to Mayer is deleted altogether.

Sorry if it seems like I'm making a mountain out of a molehill out of a few simple words -- and I'm happy to go along with whatever others feel. But I thought at a minimum I'd raise the issue (and would rather 'raise the issue' than just making changes on my own, when I don't even know what the changes would acceptably be).
