Article is out of date and not encyclopedic

[edit]

This article written in 2007, and is in the style of an essay rather than an encyclopedia article. In my opinion, the whole thing should be re-written and updated. I've started on this but could use help.

I added some details about recent events but in very short form. Here are some ideas for topics the article could touch on:

• Conversion of the downtown Seattle bus tunnels to rail tunnels

• The history of the 2 Line, especially with regard to opposition from Bellevue real estate interests and the technical feat of building an electrified railway on the I-90 floating bridge

• The history of the Sound Transit 2 and Sound Transit 3 ballot measures

• The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on ridership and construction

• More details on the Lynnwood Link extension and its impact on Snohomish County

• A section covering the planning and review process for the West Seattle, Ballard, Everett, and Tacoma extensions

• The Gondola proposal for West Seattle

• The controversy surrounding the CID/Chinatown station location

• Statistics over the years for ridership, system length, etc.

Please let me know what you think and feel free to make whatever changes you feel would be good!
