Page name?
[edit]I originally named this page "Jets-Giants" because more sources listed the Jets first. Is it the standard naming procedure for Wikipedia to use the oldest team first or list them alphabetically? Otherwise, I think we should go with what the sources use. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:28, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- In my reading (which includes extensive reading of local NY area newspapers as I live in New Jersey), wether the Jets or Giants are listed first is a 50-50 toss-up, which may be influenced by page layout as much as anything. It seems to me, to be neutral, we should go with alphabetical order for all such rivalry articles; alphabetical order is a neutral, arbitrary order that shows no favoritism one way or the other.
- On a broader note, however, I do believe we should, nay must include the full names of the teams. Wikipedia is written for a worldwide audience, and including city names is a simple way to make clear what these articles are discussing for those less familiar with North American sports teams.
- And we should also take special care to only include such articles when there actually is sufficient material to support a separate article. Even this rivalry, which is infrequent outside the preseason, could probably be sufficiently covered at the rivalry sections of the team's respective articles with substantially similar wording. In other words, I don't really know if this article is even needed; just because a rivalry gets mentioned at the teams' articles doesn't mean it's in need of it's own article. oknazevad (talk) 17:15, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
