This article does qualify as notable under Wikipedia guidlines. This person has received a notable award or honor, or has been often nominated for them. Not only has he been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize he also has received 6 honorary degrees.

The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by their peers or successors. His work The Great Father, the book he wrote that was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, his consistently cited by historians as a crucial work to understanding United States-Native American relations.[1]

The person's work either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums, or had works in many significant libraries. He has a permanent collection located within Marquette University Archives, Marquette University was recently rated as a Top-100 Institution.[2]
