Elon Musk
[edit]Elon Musk made a cheap commercial flamethrower (US$500). [1] – Nixinova ⟨T|C⟩ 05:52, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- No, he made an expensive weed burner. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 14:55, 30 January 2018 (UTC)- He didn't even do that, he stuffed an off-the-shelf weed burner into an airsoft gun. Bones Jones (talk) 02:13, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
- It wasn't an off the shelf product, it's a torch from a company called CSE but and is based off their existing product but was modified to alter the shape the piping, the trigger mechanism, and a choke was added to alter the air - fuel ratio. The off the shelf weed burners don't throw as large of a flame or as consistently. 73.225.12.249 (talk) 15:48, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

”Napalm was never used in flamethrowers”
[edit]In the introduction, there is a sentence ”Note that actual napalm was never used in flamethrowers” which is contradicted several times in the rest of the article. I don’t know anything about napalm so I don’t want to edit it but someone should. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.249.46.208 (talk) 08:27, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
- Agreed. It also was contradicted by the Napalm article. The assertion was added at 2018-09-30T08:13:38 206.174.12.34. Since there has been no response and no citation, nor any plausible grounds for such a claim, I'll remove it forthwith. JonRichfield (talk) 14:04, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
Use of the word "flamethrower"
[edit]- This Youtube video "Rescuing Bees in an Orange Tree - The Bush Bee Man" at about time 2.45 shows an Australian man ("The Bush Bee Man") using the word "flamethrower" to mean a small handheld propane burner fed from a small (not backpack) propane cylinder.
