Meaning beyond cosmology?
[edit]The semi-empirical mass formula (nuclear physics) article frequently references the concept of Fermi ball (and links here), but rather seems to regard it as denoting a ball of Fermi gas. Is this a more general sense, and the cosmological concept just one application of the idea?
The Fermi gas#3D uniform gas article seems to mention the concept, but calls it a Fermi sphere. 'Ball' seems more apt, as this is definitely about the interior. Is there an established practice? 37.197.218.39 (talk) 08:21, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
