section title not understood
[edit]I don't understand what "India's First World's Second" means. Midgley 09:28, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- The section is talking about India's first extradosed bridge. The section title seems to claim this is the world's second oldest extradosed bridge. This is unsourced, and [1] says there are several extradosed bridges in operation in Japan with completion dates in the 1990s as well as a few more around the world that were completed prior to "Vivekananda Bridge, Second" which is the only bridge listed for India. Maybe this is talking about the bridge's use as a railway bridge. Article needs to be expanded, proposed sections: design/construction, history, examples. --Martinship 10:34, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
confusing sentence
[edit]Can someone rewrite this "sentence" so it makes sense?
In cost wise, allowable stress for cable in cable stayed bridge is always smaller than extradosed bridge type in may design code because of fatigue concern and types of anchor can be chosen for external tendon anchorage systme in extradosed bridge rather than cable stayed bridge type which way more expensive. Furthermore, usual extradosed bridge doesn't require tension re-adjustment (tune-up) before service because cables act as external-tendon.

History section - earliest bridge with some extradosed features
[edit]It anyone is looking for good pictures of the Bridge in Rzuchów near Leżajsk that is mentioned in the article as having early characteristics of an extradosed bridge, here is a good blogpost with pictures (archived here). In these pics, you can see that there are cables that are continuous from one end to the other of the three-span continuous girder. The cables go over short towers and appear to provide compression to the entire girder. Here is a post of demolition pictures (archived here). And here is a post of replacement bridge construction (archived here). - ¢Spender1983 (talk) 03:20, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
- Nice pics! Do you know if they are copyrighted (my Polish is non-existent!)? Or could we access them via WP:NFCC? ❮❮ GEEKSTREET Talk Lane ❯❯ 06:53, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
- I don't know if they can be published here. My Polish is also non-existent. - ¢Spender1983 (talk) 07:38, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
