Ed vs Edward
[edit]He was never known as Ed. His name is Edward. 49.225.228.90 (talk) 09:22, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
- Oh. Is that really so? Schwede66 09:46, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
- He hated being referred to as Ed. In his early army days he was fondly known as Ted but ge much preferred Edward - as his wife and immediate family, friends and community knew him. Anything else is disrespectful to his memory and surviving family. I am his son and find it upsetting he is continually misnamed, a tasteless common practice first perpetuated by media. He deserves more given his service to his country nationally and internationally. 49.226.87.68 (talk) 15:20, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is based on what’s written down in reliable secondary sources. If you can provide a list of such sources, we can consider renaming the article. Schwede66 19:49, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- your dismissive reply is even more offensive. Try looking at the sources in the page itself - his books, the parliamentary list and more. His birth certificate, political posting and diplomatic warrant plus MBE citation. Given you changed the page title yourself, Axe or whoever, you and Wikipedia should be ashamed. Your edited reply posted on the page suns you up. Gutless and nasty. 49.224.95.65 (talk) 22:25, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
