A possible punctuation mistake
[edit]"and Scandinavians, Vikings who became, by mixing with the local population, the Normans"
Shouldn't there be a comma after Vikings?--Adûnâi (talk) 23:02, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
Mistake in Vital Statistics
[edit]Apparently someone changed the figures for the last years, putting the numbers of France *including* the oversea territories while the rest of tht table is only Metropolitan France. This needs to be reverted. 89.139.120.129 (talk) 06:44, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
Foreigner vs Immigrant
[edit]A brief explanation of the difference between these terms in the French statistics would be in order. How does this distinction relate to nationality vs citizenship? Backinstadiums (talk) 10:38, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Backinstadiums I believe they only take into account the nationality of the person and the citizenship of a resident is an irrelevancy in statistics. From 'L'essentiel sur... les immigrés et les étrangers' by INSEE, translating 'the foreign' tip on the page reads
- Definition: Foreigner: a foreigner is a person who resides in France and does not have French nationality, either because he has another nationality (exclusively) or because he has none (this is the case of stateless persons). Persons of French nationality possessing another nationality (or several) are considered in France as French. A foreigner is not necessarily an immigrant, he may have been born in France (minors in particular). Remark: Unlike that of immigrant, the status of foreigner does not always last throughout life: one can, provided that the legislation in force allows it, become French by acquisition.
- You should however double check this as I am not 100% certain to make a definitive call but this would be my answer off of the official INSEE page. Tweedle (talk) 19:25, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- In France nationality and citizenship are the same thing, there are no official ethnic statistics. Benjil (talk) 10:38, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
Population projections
[edit]The most recent data from the source, eurostat, shows different estimations towards 2050. +/- 5% in 2050 for France and +/- 0% for Germany in 2050. The UK is not in that dataset. https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/databrowser/view/proj_stp24/default/table?lang=en&category=proj.proj_23n 84.197.144.62 (talk) 02:14, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
