Lights

What about flashlights? Headlamps? Lanterns? Oil lamps? Fire on a stick? Glow sticks? Etc. --Wtshymanski (talk) 01:39, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal 2012-07-26

[edit]

Per WP:Merging#Proposing a merger, I propose that 'Snoopy loop' be merged into 'Caving equipment'. I think that the content in the 'Snoopy loop' article can easily be explained in the context of 'Caving equipment', and the 'Caving equipment' article is of a reasonable size that the merging of 'Snoopy loop' will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. →gab 24dot grab← 16:23, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is it used by cavers other than cave divers? It is used by divers other than cave divers, and might properly be merged into Diving equipment. It does seem a bit trivial to have its own article. Cheers, • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 13:02, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Caving equipment. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. history and gear

[edit]

I was looking something up for a friend about acid and nylon and I recalled that long ago I had read a book that said that in the days when the lamps used batteries with acid in them, cavers couldn't use nylon harnesses and ropes, so they were made of, I forget, acrylic? So I think the sections on history and gear could both be expanded, especially if nowadays things are very different. Vince Calegon 10:22, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

Protective clothing section expansion/edit

[edit]

I feel this section or the page itself could be expanded or restructured slightly to include a summary of protective attire for special situations. For example, this article https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_of_the_Crystals cites the use of a specific refrigeration suits and breathing systems required to allow the explorers to survive the temperatures and humidity. The intention of the caving equipment page seems to be summarative so I think perhaps a slight restructure to include information on this could really help people get a better grasp of the big picture of what people could have to wear. Also, this page can better serve as a starting point for people to track down more specific details and realms of information on caving equipment. 2600:1700:60A4:1290:69B2:B9A4:A303:CCDD (talk) 07:55, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A good idea. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:30, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
