[edit]guys wtf is with the lede does it need to have like a thousand different names 2603:8000:9903:663C:48C9:418:31DB:F361 (talk) 05:53, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
did a wp:bold and changed it 2603:8000:9903:663C:48C9:418:31DB:F361 (talk) 06:16, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
- Yep, it has a thousand names in real life, so it has a thousand names on WP. Also, we try to stick to plain English whenever possible instead of computer jargon like en-US and en-GB. Lastly, we're sorry to hear that your shift key has stopped working. :) Stepho talk 07:27, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
Film by Westland Helicopters on CRP
[edit]There's an excellent film by Westland Helicopters circa 1986 entitled Fibres For Flight on their development of a carbon-fibre rotor blade for the Sea King here: [1] 86.8.126.91 (talk) 10:11, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
Changing name to Carbon fiber–reinforced polymer
[edit]I've deleted the redirect page, as I think this should be the new main article name (not a redirect). The problem is that the current hyphen position makes no sense and is simply incorrect. Electricmaster (talk) 01:29, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Er, no. You should not have deleted the redirection page before the discussion. That is the type of thing that is done after the discussion reaches consensus to change. Please restore it.
- I read "carbon-fibre reinforced polymer" and I see that it is a polymer that is reinforced with carbon fibre, as per WP:HYPHEN and compound modifier. Makes perfect sense.
- I read "carbon fibre-reinforced polymer" and I see that it is a polymer that is fibre reinforced (so far, so good) but then there is this unrelated "carbon" stuck in front. It seems to be hinting that the carbon is related to the polymer (ie the resin) that the fibre is embedded within - ie that it is a carbon polymer reinforced with fibres. The proposed version is misleading. Stepho talk 01:55, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
