Dubious

[edit]

Well, there is no doubt that the claim that this is the only sports club in the world to field the name "Europe" is false, this for example, is the contact page, on the Swedish Football Association's official site, for a Swedish football club on the 10th level of Swedish football named "FC Europe Juniors". And Europa FC are historical Gibraltar football champions. It would be interresting to get a reference for the disputed fact. – Elisson • T • C • 18:17, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Catalan or Spanish football team

[edit]

During the last months, I have found two (anonymous) attempts to change the text "Club Esportiu Europa is a Catalan football club" to "Club Esportiu Europa is a Spanish football club". So far, the choice to denote Europa as a Catalan club has been the preferred one because the club is registered in the Catalan Football Federation, identifies as a Catalan club (e.g. by displaying Catalan flags in its stadium and no Spanish flags), communicates exclusively in Catalan, and has always had close ties with Catalanism. Even though the club is administratively located in both Catalonia and Spain, it can be considered more coherent to denote the club as a Catalan football club and not as a Spanish football club. Obviously, I am open to hear reasons why Spanish could be a preferred option; maybe there is a policy I don't know about. Please answer this topic to reach a consensus. I will revert any future changes of this term if they are done without justification. Kind regards, Liamb723 (talk) 11:54, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
