Additional sources and information
[edit]As I've been advised that it is preferable for the subject of an article not to edit his own page, I'm posting these links here in the event anyone wants to apply the information therein to either this page or the pages for the movies in question.
- http://zombie.wikia.com/wiki/Meat_Market_2
- http://zombie.wikia.com/wiki/Exhumed
These pages appear to be fairly well-researched, generally unbiased, and linked to sources or have print articles cited (some of the links to reviews may be dead, they're quite old, since all these movies were made between 2000-2006). The print articles, the ones not already cited in the proper wikipedia pages, might be of some use as citations. I'm guessing the formatting is the same or similar to wikipedia. Not sure if any of the short films worked on between 2009-2011 should be added to filmography or not. (They're all on IMDB) Brianfhclement (talk) 00:00, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- I agree. I was surprised at how well cited they are, and I found that Wikia site rather informative back when I was doing research. Unfortunately, I don't think all of the sources are reliable enough for Wikipedia's use, and the offline sources are difficult to track down. It's not that I don't trust people, but I'd really like to see the source for myself. I tracked down a few articles on Canada.com, but Fangoria is especially frustrating. Their entire pre-2013 archive is missing or apparently deleted, but I was able to recover a few articles from the Internet Archive. I have no objection to listing short films. As a lazy minimalist, I tend to gloss over details that others find notable. Articles I create are often a bit austere, though I've been trying to force myself to include more fluff and anecdotes – Wikipedia certainly loves its overly-detailed trivia. - I collected my press during those years and have cutouts from magazines and newspapers in scrapbooks I could scan. Although since they're copyrighted material I don't think I can upload to wikipedia. If they were on a dropbox or other site making them downloadable would that be useful? Brianfhclement (talk) 00:42, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- As long as someone has it on hardcopy, that's good enough for me. I just don't want to rely on Wikia as a primary source of information. Offline sources are perfectly legitimate, and there's no requirement that they be available online. However, I just edited an article that had a bunch of uncited quotations that seemed a bit dodgy. I'm always a bit suspicious when I see such over-the-top praise with no citation. When I searched Google, it turned out that some of the quotations came from press releases which selectively (and deceptively) quoted negative reviews out-of-context. We can avoid this issue by giving full citations, so that the information can be easily verified. An in-context quotation in the footnote wouldn't hurt, but it's not necessary. It tends to make suspicious and cynical editors rest easier at night. I had trouble finding enough sources to make an article for Meat Market 3, so any pointers would be helpful. We don't need much to satisfy the film notability guideline, but it does have requirements that some independent films struggle to meet, such as multiple reviews from national critics. - Just a note that the link to The Dead Inside is for a similarly named film I had no part in. Same names, different movies. Brianfhclement (talk) 00:57, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
- It only took me a couple years, but I've created a dropbox of high resolution scans of old newspaper and magazine articles on me, if anyone wants to use them to update or edit this article, as I realize I shouldn't do so myself. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cupecxhxf869lv2/AABI-FPBjdi-Enxq0Z88vpd2a?dl=0 Brianfhclement (talk) 01:28, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
