Aubaine is still used today. It's very popular in Quebec and less used in France.
For example, Quebecers use it for classified ads, such as www.aubainesexpert.ca [1].
It's a word used to indicate a low value on an item, not necessarily of no value!
It can be used in plural, as many aubaines can exist at the same time.
