Salem Church[1] is an active Methodist church in Cheslyn Hay in the South Staffordshire District of Staffordshire, England.[2] It is located at the junction of Landywood Lane and High Street. It is a locally listed building.[3]
History
[edit]A church was built in 1819 and in 1851, it could seat up to 250 worshippers at a time.[4] In 1855, it was rebuilt on the same site and enlarged further in 1898. In 1940, the chapel could seat up to 450 worshippers at a time. In 1924, a library annex was built directly next to the chapel. It is home to around 2,000 volumes of books.[5][6]
Present day
[edit]The church serves as a place for both worship and community gatherings. In January 2024, a table tennis community began using the annex for hosting events and community gatherings.[7]
