Qarz-e-Jaan is a 2024 Pakistani television series, directed by Saqib Khan and written by Rabia Razzaque. The series is produced by Momina Duraid under the production banner of MD Productions. It stars Yumna Zaidi and Usama Khan as leads in their second project together. The series revolves around the two lawyers, delving into the societal issues leading to oppressions and injustice. The series first episode broadcast on 17 November 2024 on Hum TV.[3][2]
Plot
[edit]Qarz-e-Jaan is a compelling story of resilience, justice, and the pursuit of dreams, centered on Nishwa—a young woman whose life transforms as she faces societal injustices and personal hardships. Raised in Barkat Villa under the oppressive rule of her uncle Bakhtiar and the domineering influence of her grandmother, Nishwa and her mother, Bisma, have endured a life of servitude with little reward. Bisma's quiet sacrifices shape Nishwa's unwavering resolve to break free from the cycle of exploitation.
Despite the odds, Nishwa thrives academically, earning a law degree with distinction and aspiring to become a lawyer. However, Bakhtiar's relentless opposition challenges her ambitions, forcing her to confront the boundaries placed on her dreams. Refusing to yield to unjust demands, Nishwa chooses to forge her own path, even as it leads to impossible dilemmas.
When a defining moment arises, Nishwa is faced with the most challenging decision of her life—a choice that risks everything she holds dear. Guided by the memory of her mother's silent endurance, she rises to challenge the injustices surrounding her, embarking on a journey that demands immense courage, strength, and heart-wrenching sacrifices.

[edit]Production
[edit]In June 2024, it reported that Zaidi and Khan would star in Amna Mufti's written Andher Nagri, directed by Amin Iqbal.[6][7] Nevertheless, further reports confirmed the series' title change to Khoon Baha, with Rabia Razzaq as writer and Saqib Khan as director.[7][5] Hussain disclosed her portrayal of Zaidi's mother, alongside Rehman.[8] It marked Khan and Zaidi's second on-screen appearance previously starred in 2024 film Nayab.[9][1] The official posters and teasers were unveiled in November, with the changed title, Qarz-e-Jaan.[10]
