Quite a striking image of preserved British Rail Class 55 "Deltic" locomotive (55022 Royal Scots Grey), one of the most powerful express diesels to run in the United Kingdom. Used on British Rail Class 55 and Deltic 9000 Fund. Alternatively, there are quite a few more images of Deltics that are quite nice, but are not in the article at the moment, for example File:55002 and 46229 Ayr Traction Maintenance Depot (1).jpg, File:55019 Great Central Railway.jpg, File:55019 Great Central Railway (2).jpg or File:All six preserved deltics at Barrow Hill.jpg. - While these have generally good color (except of course for the black and white image linked above, but there are some good tones there), the composition of most of these is a bit plain to my eye. The most interesting of these to me is the image showing six preserved locos, but the sky color is not as deep as I would like. I think File:55008 , Peterborough.jpg is more interesting because it shows them in regular operation and shows more of the locomotive's profile behind its prominent nose. - Yes actually I hadn't noticed that one, but I agree that it's perhaps the most interesting (in that it actually shows it in operation on its home turf, as it were), and without the electric cables that often get in the way from high angles now. Plus I live quite near Peterborough, so I'll give your suggestion my support! Thinking about it, the convention in steam loco articles used to be that "in operation" images were preferable, so perhaps that could be changed to the top image for the 55? - Oh yes, sorry, that was me. I've also slightly improved the colour contrast and removed the haze. Hopefully looks quite good now. Bob talk 17:45, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
