Steel City is an American professional soccer club based out of Pittsburgh. The club has two teams, with the men's team playing in the USL League Two and the women's team playing in the USL W League.
Men's team history
[edit]Steel City was formed under the name Pittsburgh Hotspurs in 2019.[1] Following a collaboration in 2021 with Arsenal FC of Pittsburgh, the club rebranded in early 2023, renaming themselves Steel City FC.[2]
In December 2024, Steel City announced it would join USL League Two for the 2025 season.[3]
Women's team history
[edit]The club's women's team, active in the United Women's Soccer, was founded in 2014.[1][4] Ahead of the 2020 season, Steel City FC (women) merged with the Pittsburgh Hotspurs, playing in the Women's Premier Soccer League.[5] The team joined United Women's Soccer for the 2021 season.[6]
In December 2024, the women's team joined the men's team in moving to the USL and joined the USL W League for 2025.[3]
